busy HIVE!

--details--

This was our FIRST ever Hack Night in the HIVE, Purdue’s brand-new coworking space for founders, and we had an absolute blast. Here’s a quick recap

We kicked things off at 9:00pm by welcoming new faces, introducing everyone to Hack Night, reciting the Hacker Pledge, and then spreading out across the HIVE to start building.

People explored the new space, checked out the focus booths, got a look at the makerspace we’re building, raided the new kitchen, and found plenty of new corners to work and collaborate in.

The Exponent also stopped by to interview us about the move and took some wonderful photos of the night!

As usual, people were hacking on all kinds of things: devices that play music over Bluetooth on VEOs, a revamped Lunar Lander with a new display mode for the HIVE screens, ICPC practice and tricks, 3DS modding, and a ton of other projects being built throughout the night.

Amber also pulled together an impromptu croquis session, and the group produced more than 50 sketches by the end of the night. Insane!!

We wrapped up with one of our longest Checkpoints yet, lasting well over an hour. Andres, Kian, and Artus were in the back figuring out all the fancy new A/V equipment we now have access to, so this may also be our best-recorded Checkpoints yet. And, we ended Checkpoints by singing happy birthday to one of our members :)

Everyone seemed incredibly excited about our new home in the HIVE. The space opens up so many new possibilities for Hack Night, and we’re only getting started!
